چکیده
Ione Fine is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. She studied Experimental Psychology and Philosophy at Oxford, and did her PhD with Robert Jacobs at Rochester, NY. She then fell in love with a Californian, so she moved to the University of California, San Diego to do a post-doc with Donald MacLeod and Karen Dobkins. After a brief spell at Second Sight Medical Products Inc., she and her husband compromised geographically (her latitude, his longitude) and moved to the University of Washington. She is the co-author of Matlab for the Behavioral Sciences and a Fellow of the Optical Society of America. Her work focuses on exploring how the human brain adapts to being blind, and developing new technologies for sight recovery (‘bionic eyes’).

متن کاملSurface segmentation based on the luminance and color statistics of natural scenes.
The luminance and color of surfaces in natural scenes are relatively independent under certain linear transformations, with the luminance of a surface providing little information about the color of that surface, and vice versa. However, differences in luminance between two locations in a natural scene remain strongly associated with differences in color. We used the statistics of the spatiochr...
متن کاملAnatomical and functional plasticity in early blind individuals and the mixture of experts architecture
As described elsewhere in this special issue, recent advances in neuroimaging over the last decade have led to a rapid expansion in our knowledge of anatomical and functional correlations within the normal and abnormal human brain. Here, we review how early blindness has been used as a model system for examining the role of visual experience in the development of anatomical connections and func...
